[/ QUOTE ] Well, at least in my case, my RL job has huge potential return (ownership), so pretty hard to take a short term increase in immediately income traded against a potential long term huge payoff. Plus, the online games COULD still get worse, and I would never go be a live pro, that [censored] is boooooring. |

Re: How many of us are pros?
Im not making huge amounts of dollars but im probably anywehre from 30-40k this year playing modest amounts due to school. I started playing 2 years ago and I am not a pro because I currently attend school and dont make enough (maybe if i played more) . I also dont really plan to be a pro as I want another challenge in my life (while at the same time improving my poker game and making nice sidemoney).

Re: How many of us are pros?
I consider myself a pro although I still have a 20 hour "side job" as well, but not that much for money reasons.

[/ QUOTE ] I started playing online poker at 17 and was pulling in like $1.5k a week on Pacific.. not because I was good but because the other players were THAT BAD. In hind sight I can't understand how I was making money at all. When I got out of highschool I decided to go to college instead of playing professionally because I want to have a steady job when I try to raise a family. I lucked out because I went from averaging over $40/hr online to averaging under $6/hr after the legislation passed. I'm sure Pacific was rigged, but it seemed possible to work around it. I can't bring myself to play on any of the sites that are still available now because the swings seem too artificial. I'm living with a friend about an hour from Atlantic City, and there are $100-300 max home games in town 3 nights per week, so I'm doing fine without it. |
