fairway wood question
Ok here is my set up...I have the following
9.5 degree Taylormade R580 22 degree Cleveland 3i hybrid I do have a 5 wood and a 3 wood but they are crappy from an old set I have and I want to get a new club(s)... my question...do you think it would be better to get a 17 degree 5 wood and a 13 degree 3 wood ...or just get a 15 degree or 13 degree club and then get an extra say wedge?? - need a gap wedge so this is an option... I hit my driver approx 280-300 and my hybrid approx 210-220...thoughts?? |

Re: fairway wood question
Find a 15* or 16* club that you like, and that you hit app. 245.
And get the gap wedge. |

Re: fairway wood question
Be careful buying clubs with grafite shafts off ebay.
I bought a Cleveland 15* 3 wood that snapped right at the ferrule after about 3 rounds. The golf shop that replaced the shaft said it looked as if it was cracked by the previous owner. Repalcing the shaft cost more than the club did orginally. |

Re: fairway wood question
why not just buy a 4 wood (I realize that there may be no difference in loft/shaft length between some manufacturers' 3 woods and 4 woods)? I hit my driver and 3 hybrid roughly the same length as you do and my 4 wood is a happy medium, it goes about 245.

OP, Some golfers really benefit from having a 3 and a 5 in their bag, while others are better off with an extra wedge and only one fairway wood. Do you have a ton of shots in the range of 210-250 every round? If so, maybe go with two woods. If not, a wedge may be better. It's really dependant on your game. |

[/ QUOTE ] I am more of a long player so I tend to have more shots with in 120 where a PW is too much and a SW is not enough...Im thinking that the gap wedge is what I am looking for and getting a new 3-wood. besides me swing speed is pretty high and I am using the 3-wood from my old set which is regular flex so it is not really good for me, thus I need a stiff shaft. Thanks for the help so far guys, I appreciate it! |
