Re: 4/180 JJ, standard?
standard
not folding my overpair getting 3:1 in an unreraised pot vs a stack going all in half my size on this flop, unlucky if he had a set or QQ but i expect to see AK or 55ish a lot from villain in a 4/180 |

Re: 4/180 JJ, standard?
600 PF. Otherwise...all the same. 800 PF might change the hands that call you PF. If you make it 600 PF, you are always getting it in here and happy about it. With 800 PF, you might not be as happy.

i play the same way...only fear is villain has 99 and hit a set. if your up against an over pair then thats a bad situation but you have to pay him off

[/ QUOTE ] Paraphrased from a PM to me, "Why raise to t600 PF rather than t800?" My reason for raising to 600 has to do with expected villain calling hand ranges. When you raise PF, particular villain's have particular responses based on your raise size and position, etc. A 4xBB raise PF (in my experience) tightens up calling and re-raising ranges behind you. In other words, let's say a particular villain's hand range for calling a 3xBB PFR is AJs+,AQo+,66+. Otherwise he folds. The same villain's hand range for calling a 4xBB PFR is likely to be tighter, maybe more like AQs+,TT+. Thus, by raising 4xBB PF, you ensure that a tighter range calls you (and your opponents play more correctly). Also, 4xBB raises PF define your hand more (in my experience it often means 99-JJ, AQ) which again allows villain's to play more correctly. |
