seeing people out of their element
this has happened to me before and perhaps i am overthinking the situation/dynamic but whatever.
i play at bellagio and there are a ton of waitresses/masseuses etc who work there that i walk by tens of times a night and we barely exchange eye contact never mind a smile or anything. however, around town i have seen these same people at different locations doing whatever and at that point they always like do a double take and flash me the chompers and say hi....i kinda feel compelled to be social also.....why is this? is it like a disney its a small world feeling or what? this used to happen when i had a regular job also. i worked for a massive company and would see people on elevators and such and wouldnt pay any attention to them...however if we saw each other on the T we would be like 'hey hows it going, wow your handsome. thanks im mike' etc. anybody else? or do i just read into these situations too much? also, i used to miss trains just so i wouldn't have to talk to certain people. they used to make me wasn't to drive a stake thru my funbag. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah i used to do stuff like this, walk slowly to the elevator so i dont have to ride it with someone i dont want to be fake social with. another common one was if i wanted to go smoke and only one person was outside that i didn't want to talk to i'd find something else to do for a few mins. |

Re: seeing people out of their element
I think its suprisingly normal for people to do that. You feel less pressure and are more comfortable to talk to someone you will probably never see again; say when traveling or out drinking. When its people you work with or live around, you dont really want to commit yourself. Cuz if you talk to them once, youll have to bs every single time you see them. It gets so annoying that you try to avoid them (ala missing the train/elevator type of thing).
