I'd like to make a macbook or macbook pro my next computer. However, I need to be able to play poker on it.
Anyone does this? Do you use something like parallells or vmware? does those solutions work with multitabling over another monitor? pokeracehud/pokertracker? performance? thanks in advance |

i play full tilt on my macbook, however the lack of pt/pa hud makes it unbearable to play.
you can load windows on the intel macs tho, and you should be able to get full functionality if you do this. |

Considering how laggy PT + PAHUD makes a native Windows PC I don't think it would function well with VMWare if you like to multi table.

either dual boot or use parallels to run windows in a VM

My brother is currently four tabling at PokerStars on a 2.0GHz G5 iMac under VirtualPC. He auto-imports into PokerTracker and runs Gametime+ for a HUD, without things being laggy.
I used to play at Party on a 1.2GHZ G4 under VPC. With PokerTracker not running and no HUD, things started to slow down with three tables and became very laggy with four. PAHud will not run on VPC due to it's anti-piracy software. Some people have had the same problem with PAHud on Parallels. Others have reported that it runs on the current version of Parallels, I have no experience with parallels. I am still using the G4 mentioned above, where I am writing this. I finally built a Windows (Ugh!) box for ~$600 just to play poker. |

i play FTP on a macbook. i have Parallels which allows me to run Windows. i think it cost me like $50-75 and yes, i have PA HUD, pokertracker, and sixth sense all running.
it's certainly laggy though after recent FTP updates. i usually only play 4-6 tables though so it's not unbearable, but i've certainly been considering getting a PC setup. other thing is the monitor's a bit small, so i just cascade my tables, though come to think if it, i guess now with the resizable tables i can tile. and one final thought is that parallels only sections off a portion of your hard drive and now my PT database has nearly filled it up so i can't compact it anymore. ok, the more i write the more i think this is not exactly a ringing endorsement. lol. |

There is also a Mac beta version of PokerStars available *if* you already have an account with them. There is no facility to open a new account in the current build.

Does anyone use the DualBoot setup? I heard that sometime in the fall that Macs will be able to run Vista and OSX so it would work fine?
I too would like one, but poker incompatibility is an issue. |

See my post on the subject here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...#Post10226789 .
Cliff notes VMWARE > Parallels. I play all day on it and am very happy. |
