Borgata Regular Saturday 11am tourney - anyone play before?
So I have a bachelor party in AC this weekend, which doesn't start until 7:30 or so. I live in Philly, so I was thinking about driving down to the B in the morning and playing in the 300+40 11am tourney. Anyone play in it before? I absolutely love the B's tourney structure (10K in chips, starting blinds of 25/50 and 30 minute levels) which kills the Trop and Taj structures by allowing a lot more play while not greatly overextending the time it takes to finish the tourney. Thoughts? Comments? Advice?

Re: Borgata Regular Saturday 11am tourney - anyone play before?
I haven't played in this particular Borgata daily, but I have played in the Borgata's other dailies that begin at 11. If you have a bachelor party that begins at 7:30, there is very good chance that you'll be late if you go deep into this tournament. A few weeks ago, I made the final table of the Sunday daily, which also begins at 11 am. With 147 players starting and 20 minute levels, there were still seven of us left in the game at 7:30 when we finally decided to chop it up.
My understanding is that you can expect the field to be at least as big for the Saturday 11 am tourny. And since everyone starts with more chips and the tourny has longer levels, it is not unusual for the final table to finish well into the evening. |

Here's another quick suggestion: you might try the 11 a.m. tournament at Showboat as an alternative. You get 10,000 chips for that game, too, and Showboat has improved its structure so that you actually get a fair amount of play with the 20 minute levels. That tournament will draw around 100-120 players, and if the winner isn't crowned by 7:30, it won't be too much longer.

The Saturday 11am tournament at the Borgata is a $340 buy in. While the Saturday tournament at Showboat is a good tournament, it is only a $100 buy in.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I have to decide what to do in terms of whether I can accept being a little late for dinner if it means a somewhat large payday....

Harrah's offers a 10K no-ante tournament, but the structure's terrible (100-200 to start -500-1000 in 4 20 min levels, IRRC). Boat advertises similarly. How much better is their structure? |

Showboat is much better than Harrah's. Wonder why they don't adopt that structure over there, considering the ownership's the same. Thanks.
