Ask me questions of a young American living in China...
Mods- Please move to the appropriate forum,
I thought it would be cool since I saw a few post like this of Thailand and Argentina, if we start a specific forum for Americans living abroad and there experiences. If people think it is dumb, then go ahead and delete it, but so I know where I want to travel next and live, itd be cool to see more insights of people living in different places. I currently live in China if anyone has any questions about Hong Kong or China... |

Why in the hell would you post this here? Post it in OOT.
Anyway, how is technology (can you watch american direct tv etc..) Also what type of food do you eat for breakfast. Lastly, how much is your living expense per month (like say I wanted to live in a decent house for 6 months + eat and travel). |

Re: Ask me questions of a young American living in China...
john V Im new to 2p2 and dont know where to go. Im not as cool as you and only have 30 somethin posts, and don't spend all hrs of the day reading about poker.
To answer some questions, Well even though i see it as a joke, Coca Cola taste quite the same, but when i tried to get Cocaine one time, it ended up being something they kept calling Cat...By the smell of it and quantity I received I knew it wasnt coke, but after duffin a line I realized I went into a nasty thing called a K hole. So it was basically Ketaphmine. Poker- Cant find a freakin game anywhere, if I really tried, I always see locacls sitting outside playing cards and Maj on, but Im pretty sure the stakes would be very small compared to our standards. I live in Dongguan throughout the work week and the Guangzhou Friday through Sunday. In GZ I have a sat cable service that goes through the Philipines, so I get a bunch of English channels, like MSNBC,Fox News, CNN, and other news channels. I also get channels like HBO and ESPN but it isnt the same as the USA. ESPN usually is showing soccer or cricket, or some other sport the USA has no like too. As far as living, My place in Guangzhou is in a gated community. My Dad bought the place like 4 years ago for about $40,000 US, it is now worth close to $100,000 US. It is two floors, with three bedrooms, an office, kitchen, small dining room, and 2 bathrooms. Overall it is a pretty sweet pad. You could go and find places to rent for close to $70 US a month but Id rather not stay in places like that. Not the nicest places Ive seen, but comparable to my old apartments in Boston from the Slum Lords near Northeastern University.... Breakfast- I eat either croisants from a bakery close by, which they used to make with pork inside, but I asked them to make without pork, so now they constantly have croisants at least. And I also have Frosted Flakes, Coca Puff things- which taste slightly different but all in all not bad. Also they have these delicious buns that you dip in a soy milk type [censored] which actually taste like a Cini Bun. John I was just screwing before, but have the Mod put in the correct place. Im new, and I want to find out about other places in the world. Id like to live all over before my time ends, and Im only 25 now. I love asian women, so China is a nice spot for me. |

You teaching there?
I visit Tiger (hotel 2nd-3rd flr) once in awhile. Mission Hills is also nice too. Last time I went there was 8 months ago. Will be going again in the fall. Ever have a fear of safety there? I prefer Shanghai, HK more. I've heard of too many freaky stories there. You speak mandarin? Cantonese? |

How easy is it to get laid there? I have a client who has an office there and he tells me it is so simple.
