200 NL: I spew more than fgators (bluffing an overpair)
Villain is 23/18/3. I'm about the same.
After he almost timed out making the turn call, I put him on some sort of overpair (not sure how big though). So, is this a huge spew, or an actually decent time to bluff? Preflop is meh imo. I don't think he's folding much on the river since the 9 doesn't really change much.

9 doesn't change anything BUT this isn't a bad line as you are easily repping 45/65/76/etc. he may have called turn to fold river since most people give up on river if FOS.
i don't mind this, but preflop is definitely meh |

preflop is bad especially if you arent comfortable messing around postflop.
id just check the river, i think you are good vs missed spades often, i dont think villains turn line looks like an overpair at all. |

In my experience, I'm getting looked up with TT+ all day on the river. If you think villain can make the laydown, then its probably fine.

Re: 200 NL: I spew more than fgators (bluffing an overpair)
All,
preflop is definitely meh, but I don't think it's horrible. I think a lot of the value in the bluff comes from the fact that most people expect me to give up if I'm FOS (like CAterp said). Spades are definitely a part of his range, but I'd be sick if I checked it down and he showed that he randomly paired his spade draw. Overall, I think my line is scary and he doesn't have a strong enough hand to call it down. If you disagree, why? |

Re: 200 NL: I spew more than fgators (bluffing an overpair)
I like this if you are quite sure that he has an overpair through a read of some sort. Most of hero's feasible one pair hands on the flop improved to two pair or better by the river (45, 56, 66, 76, etc). I feel like the only time that you might have air here is whiffed spades and an Axss like you have.
However, I dont necessarily think his line is always repping an overpair. He might have something like 67 78 and maybe whiffed spades. All in all, i think your line is good considering your preflop call and your flop call. |

i think this is fine...i might raise flop sometiems to try this. I dunno why you took this line instead of just checking it down though. seems like a waste of your hand much of the time.

Re: 200 NL: I spew more than fgators (bluffing an overpair)
You describe the villain as good.
Why would someone who is good call with an overpair? The 9 changes things a little. It ensures that the overpair beats absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact i think he may have a set given that he peeled the turn. All said, I like it. |
