A hand where I use pokerace
Villain in this hand is a 30/20/2 type guy and plays right in line with how I would expect one of these players to play. He's not super creative in other words.
We're 5 handed and I'm UTG. I fold pf a lot here. I open K9o and he cold calls behind me. We take a flop HU. Flop is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, he raises, I 3-bet he calls. Turn 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, planning on betting the river again with what I think will fold out better kings and the rest of the time is the best hand. Did I drink too much paint today? |

[/ QUOTE ] hahahahahahaha I usually fold preflop. I would never 3-bet the flop. I would not bet the river because he will never have and fold a better hand unless it's KdQd or KdJd. Also I would expect a 30/20/2 player to coldcall 0% of the time in that spot, so he doesn't play in line with my expectations. |

"Also I would expect a 30/20/2 player to coldcall 0% of the time in that spot, so he doesn't play in line with my expectations."
That's why I 3-bet the flop. He needs a hand like A2ss to continue in the hand. This guy doesn't pass up a decent ace and not 3-bet it pf. He doesn't cold call 88/77. MAYBE he has 78. Regardless he doesn't know I have K9o. So Miles, think of the generic "I'm trying to play 30/20" in his spot. I really like my play here. |

Re: A hand where I use pokerace
He has too much equity on the flop if you give him a range of like T9, JT, and diamonds. I mean just call and let him bluff the turn and call if a good card hits for your hand.

Re: A hand where I use pokerace
How about this one. Blind battle vs. same type of player.
I open 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he calls Flop is 247, 1 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet/3bet and lead the turn |

Re: A hand where I use pokerace
I don't mind that one much. Just calling and drawing lets him off easy. He can have gutshots and fold. He can have air and fold. Maybe ace high and fold. Your equity is good on flop and you can fold out a good amount of better hands on the turn. If he calls the turn I don't know that I would bluff the river unless he peels the turn really light.

Both hands you've put in this thread look good to me danza.

Re: A hand where I use pokerace
I hate #1 with a passion. It's not just spew, it's really thoughtless spew. #2 is ok but I do think it'll be worthwhile to fire on the river again if he just calls the turn. I don't think many gutshots (A3 etc) fold the turn here but I think they'll give up if you fire a 3rd barrel. FWIW this is a better spot to balance your play, I think, and I'll call and c/r turns (since so many are favorable anyway), c/r semibluff intending on firing the river, etc., as well.

Re: A hand where I use pokerace
#1 is only good against players who know you, but not well enough to have seen you done this a few times, I think.
