2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
Effective stacks are about 600
I look down at Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (Suits might not be right but doesnt matter)UTG and limp. Folds to button who makes a standard raise of 16 SB/BB fold and I repop to 55. Button Takes about a minute to think and pushes. 550 more! I think this is an easy fold but my play was criticized by the table when I told my friend and he started laughing. I figure that the worst hand he does this with is AK and thats what I put him on because I dont think he would make such a big raise with AA/KK. Those are the only 3 hands I thought he could possibly have and didnt wanna get my money in on a race. What do you do here? |

Re: 2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
Something in your post doesn't add up.
1) You think he can't have AA or KK 2) You folded?! You should be looking to take an edge this big every single time. You already have money invested in the pot and you crush his range. If you can't stand the variance move down, because you just can't pass up such a profitable spot. |

nonono I mean to say its not necessarily normal for him to make such a large overbet with aa or kk but it certainly is possible. I am 90 percent sure he doesnt do this with a hand I have crushed. He is a good player and will mix up his play but I feel its more likely he has ak but like I said I feel its 90 percent he has one of those 3.

Re: 2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
48.694% { QQ }
51.306% { AcAd, AcAh, KcKd, KcKh, KcKs, QQ, JcJs, AKs, AKo } Gave him a range IMO weighted heavily towards hands that beat you. You're still fairly comfortably getting odds to call against this range. I still don't think you can just fold here. |

Good point my raise does look like a steal seeing as I limped and he might not hesitate to do this with a worse hand. Anybody have any other thoughts?

Re: 2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
The fact that you limp raised makes him more likely to have a good hand. You limp raise. He thinks, oh villain likes his hand, I shove.

Re: 2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
queens is a really bad hand to limp reraise cuz when you get 4bet you are in a tough spot, unlike when you get 4bet with AA, KK, AK or 67

Re: 2/4 queens facing large overbet preflop
Whoa. I missed the limp-reraise too. That makes this a lot more marginal. I've probably caused enough damage in this thread as it is.
