Help wanted: Stars 2/4 Players
I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this forum or not so feel free to lock this thread if neccesary.
I'm attempting to write an econ research paper about determinants of winrate for nlhe. I'm hoping you guys could help me out with some data. It might be too narrow but I thought it would be most relevant if the data was all from the same site and limit. (Stars 2/4 NL) All I'm looking for is PT screenshots of ~50k hand sets. And all I need is the main line from the general info tab with all the major statistics, preferably with the more detail thing open (i only care about the bottom portion of this), and then the avg player per hand number from the game notes tab. If you are willing to help please post in this thread or PM me. Everything I receive will be totally confidential and effectively anonomous. All i want is numbers, I dont care about names. Here is an example of what I am looking for. (i just used a random guy from PT, i would prefer you guys just black out your names). Thanks in advance. I will be happy to share my findings with the forum assuming the paper is somewhat of a success. PS-Any non-data ideas for the paper would be more than welcome as well. |

Re: Help wanted: Stars 2/4 Players
none of these things will be causative. they will just correlate with hand reading.

Re: Help wanted: Stars 2/4 Players
TWP,
You set threshholds though like VPIP < X or > Y means Z% of being a losing player. VPIP to PFR ratio I think would be a good one And like VPIP/PFR with WTSD W$SD would be a good one There's merit to this i would say |

Re: Help wanted: Stars 2/4 Players
i understand the idea (i do it for a living) but i am doubtful as to what you hope to convey. it will be more DEscriptive than PREscriptive.

Re: Help wanted: Stars 2/4 Players
i agree w twp, but for the purpose of the paper it doesn't have to be at all accurate as long as it sounds official. there's a MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger correlation between certain stats in LHE than NLHE so you might want to go in that direction with some of your old LHE data. nate made a good post awhile back about some formula to determine winrate from some stats. it was obviously far from perfect but pretty interesting to look at. i have it bookmarked somewhere so i can find it if you want

[/ QUOTE ] 100% Especially with the importance of position, etc. I guess I was saying the stats could be better used to "the following will make you a losing player" over "the following will make you a winning player" I think josh brings up a good point in LHE vs NLHE too, if you consider the fact that people could stack off, players who 'play terrible post flop esp w/a big stack', etc. |
