In an effort to become the premiere Las Vegas poker room for middle limit hold ‘em, the Venetian is embarking on an ambitious strategy to seize the market.
On Friday, March 9, Venetian poker room management will announce their new promotion at their Deep Stack Extravaganza tournament. Officially beginning on April 1 (and unofficially beginning immediately), the Venetian is making a commitment to dramatically reduce rake for middle limit hold ‘em games through the rest of 2007. 8-16 and 15-30 limit hold ‘em games will have a maximum rake of $1 through the end of May. Likewise, 30-60 and 60-120 limit hold ‘em will have a time charge of $2. By comparison, rakes in all middle limit games in Las Vegas are currently at a maximum of $4. The time charge in the Bellagio 30-60 game is $6. In the 60-120 game, time is $7. The Venetian’s promotion to offer reduced rake continues through December according to the schedule below (which is from a letter to players to be distributed on Friday to introduce the promotion). Advertisements in Card Player and Poker Player magazines will be purchased to support the promotion. [ QUOTE ] Mid-Limit, Minimum Rake If you’re a Mid-Limit Texas Hold’em player who’s looking for the best place to play, look no further than The Venetian. In addition to the luxury, comfort, amenities and professional staff that you expect and deserve, we’ve also found a way to keep more money in your wallet. Throughout 2007, we’re offering an introductory promotion for the following game limits: $8/$16 and $15/$30 Limit Hold’em April/May: $1 Rake June/July: $2 Rake Aug thru Dec 2007: $3 Rake $30/$60 and $60/$120 Limit Hold’em April/May: $2 Time Collection June/July: $3 Time Collection Aug thru Dece 2007: $4 Time Collection [/ QUOTE ] |

I like that reduced rake. The Venetian has the nicest looking poker room in Las Vegas already. They should get a lot of new players there.

Any reduction for the lower limit games, or do the 4/8 players pay double the rake of the 15/30?

They already get a fair number of low limit players. Looks like they are trying to build up regular higher limit games so that the Bellagio isn't the only sure game in town.

the venetian is a lovely card room and very spacious. it should have all the business bellagio has and then some. they are generous with food comps if you play 30 or 60 or higher. wynn is nice but a little crowded. the floor and staff at bellagio are hideously rude. i will take my business to venetian all year, id rather play 30 or 60 there any day of the week anyway.
