i have to go to ho chi min city in a couple of weeks for work. we'll (group of four co workers) be there from monday until friday morning, but only working tuesday and wednesday nights. what is there to do during the day/other down time?
i'm not a huge history buff, but i guess any war memorials/museums should be checked out. all i know about vietnam is that the bbq pork sandwiches and noodle soups are awesome and that jimmy cliff got a letter from a friend who was fighting there. |

Independence Palace in downtown ho chi minh is interesting, they have english and vietnamese tours as well as a video. You get to go down into the bunkers and see all the maps they used, very interesting. They also have an amusement park - Dam Sen Park - with a huge ferris wheel.
There is also a zoo but it is kind of dirty and hard to find your way around. They have a huge crocodile though. I just got back from there at the end of January. It's hot and you will want sunglasses and shorts to walk around in. Don't go into the fancy looking restaurants, they charge way more than the little diners and serve you the same food. Make sure you get your passport / visa stamped on the way in. |
