the suprise is that with only a 30BB loss he is ready to call it quits. Based on the history although he has lost money he is clearly near the expertise of those he's playing. He has lost but not nearly as much as he should have if he was truly outclassed. I hope he comes back or a new Andy Beal..I like rooting for the underdog and when the underdog comes this close I get really excited. So here's hoping this isn't then end...if it is I'll have to resort to watching the real fish (read: sheikan) duke it out with those who clearly outclass them on GSN.

Straight Flushes,

SAM

I'm surprised he gave up with only a 30 bet deficit and he even decided not to play in one of the coolest televisted tournaments ever?

I don't really get this, for those better informed: who on earth has he been playing for practice? You don't just get better than the best in the world by "thinking about it really hard"

The "Big Game" played in Vegas is not the only big game. Back in the day, Dallas, Galveston, Corpus Christi and occasionally Houston, were where the action/money was. Binion's idea for the HE Championship got the attention/publicity focused on Vegas. But, big games go on whenever/wherever gamblers want. Sort of, "Shuffle and they will come. If the money's right."

Beal is one of the best Heads Up Limit Players in the World. While I have no idea who he practices against, when you devote yourself to one scenerio of one poker game like he has, it is possible to become really really great.

Plus, think of all the variance there is in a game like this, even if it he isn't as good as people say, he's going to win his share.

I didn't know Beal was invited to the NUPC. I would have liked to see how far he got.
