So I have $400 gift card to OneCall.com from fpp's and would like to get a new digital camera. Any obvious favorites among those listed in the link below? On Cnet they all have similar ratings, so I was hoping someone has some experience with Sony vs. Canon vs. Casio vs. Panasonic, etc...
Thanks in advance for the help, if there is a better forum for this let me know... cameras, $300-400 |

Canon G7 by a large margin if you are willing to fork over the $100 extra and wait for the rebate.
$399 + tax net for that camera is a great deal. Otherwise, the Canon SD800IS is the next best. The SD900 is nice, but I would rather have IS. |

[/ QUOTE ] The 800 has a much better lens for ordinary use. More wide angle, so you can get more people in a picture without stepping back. That's much better for most people. |

I have nothing really useful to add. Just wanted to mention that there was an article in the NYT yesterday, basically claiming that camera decisions should not be significantly affected by claims regarding the number of pixels, as that actually has nothing to do with the quality of the photos.
