3rd pair
was in a lot of these spots tonight, heres one:
raise two terrible limpers with red 88 in CO and get called by loose/ passiveish BTN sort who is also capable of raising with draws and at least talks about position. he has without a doubt noticed i raise a ton as he has been calling most of them. he hasn't given much resistance to this point. also was caught bluffing on river( and semi bluffing during hand) earlier but mentioned how he was hoping that by showing in a confident manner his opponent may fold a better hand (board was very coordinated and he had shown the strength of at least two pair) so that's him, a loose passive type who can bluff, semi bluff and attempt angle shots. 5 to flop for 10sb J97r c,c,c, b, raise, folded to me, i call 2 to turn for 7 BB 5 (suit forgotten, but not relevant) check, bet, call river is 4 check, bet...... you call? |

Re: 3rd pair
This is a hard hand to discuss because its completely read dependent. We cant give you a better read on the player than what you've given us, so our comments are only interpretations of your interpretation.
If your calling what do you put him on? Would he ColdCall A7s , or raise with just a T, QT, or QK? Your getting 10-1 on your money, and I think he has a hand like that often enough to call. |

Such a 'live poker' moment. What were you feeling? [/ QUOTE ] hard to pinpoint. i had however just made a call down of one bet on each street and lost (didnt show), and when i call down and realize i was crused i do tend to 'beat myself up' a little. i think we all 'want to call' in these spots, just for curiosity alone....so i suppose i wanted to call...best way to descibe what i felt i suppose. |

Re: 3rd pair
I'm confused by your read. Passive types don't do all that stuff. They just call until they have the nuts and then they raise.
If he's passive, I'd expect him to have you beat. If he could be getting tricky, I'd either 3 bet the flop and lead, or c/r the turn. Sounds like you're beat though. |

Re: 3rd pair
were you planning to fold a blank turn?
If we're really thinking about calling down here how about just 3betting the flop now that it's heads up? lots of times you might get a cheaper showdown against a jack if an overcard hits and you check the river. I guess what I mean is that a 3bet is going to make him a lot more honest later (unless we improve). |
