Bacon in the oven
I just made bacon in the oven for the first time, but they came out waaaaay to crispy. What temp and how long is optimal? I cooked them at 385 for about 40 mins.

Re: Bacon in the oven
I do it at 550. I cook the strips for 7-8 minutes, flip them, and then cook for another 7-8 minutes.

Re: Bacon in the oven
Good thing you didn't cook it at 390 or anything silly like that.
Pro tip: If you open the oven door a little part way through the cooking process you can peek to see how its coming along. You don't have to start over or anything after you open the door. |

Re: Bacon in the oven
bacon is best when cooked for a long time at a low temperature. It should simmer in its own fat. Do it in a 275F oven until it's ready - I'm guessing about 1-1.5 hours. That's how I did my homemade bacon tonight, and it was delightful.
