Hi,
short intro of myself: I'm a decently successful MTT'er ($50-$150 stakes) who's played for about 1.5 years. I want to try cash games mainly to improve my deep stack play in tourneys (my biggest weakness), but possibly to split my time between the two as well. I'm rolled for higher stakes, but NL100 seems like a decent place to start. Starting at full ring to ease into the whole thing. Anyway, this is a spot I find difficult. This particular situation can be a tad special due to stack sizes I guess, but otherwise I'm still a bit lost here....so much easier in an MTT where you can usually just push or fold PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) saw flop|saw showdown Hero ($129.60) UTG ($107.50) UTG+1 ($99) MP1 ($19.10) MP2 ($97.50) MP3 ($103.95) CO ($40.30) Button ($69.85) SB ($108.15) Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls $1, MP2 raises to $3, 4 folds, Hero calls $2, MP1 calls $2. Flop: ($9.50) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Some reads: the shorty is VERY tight-passive (18/0 stats), the raiser is loose and fishy (25/8), usually slowplays big hands. Not too aggro either preflop or postflop. What's the best line PF here? Reraise? As played, on the flop? Big non-pocket hands like AQ/AK just seem so ugh to play OOP in general, any general pointers here? |

Reraise pf and you take it down right there a lot of the time. I'm new to NL myself, as I've played about 12k hands at NL100.
25/8 isn't really loose, is it? The fact that the hands you mention are "ugh" to play oop, is the reason I like to reraise and take control. A CB takes it down on the flop often. |

Preflop is fine, 8% PFR doesn't seem that loose to me. Unless you've seen him showdown a bunch of bad hands to indicate that he is raising many bad hands, I would just call preflop. He's pretty far out of position so you have to respect that. Folding would be my second choice.
