What is 2+2 Policy on posting band approved links to music files?
I understand there can be no posting regarding illegal file-sharing and that sort of thing but in posting my vote for "Cowboy Junkies" in the One Band for the Rest of Your Life thread I later tooled around the web and found that the Cowboy Junkies fully supports downloading many of their concerts from approved sites in FLAC format. I would have liked to post a few links but held off for now.
I also know my brother back East downloads torrents (I think in FLAC format) from bands that authorize this sort of thing for their live performances. Had I posted links to approved music, would I be violating 2+2 posting guidelines? And yes I read the Terms and Conditions and many of the sticky links in forums but this doesn't seem clear. I'll post a sample below this post from a Cowboy Junkies approved site. BTW, the latest Winamp plays FLAC files (FLAC is a lossless format that compresses a .waw file about by half. Using other software you can get back to the .waw file with no loss or degradation. ~ Rick |

[/ QUOTE ] This site links directly from the Comboy Junkies main site and has tons of live recordings of songs for free in FLAC Format. Right now I can't figure out how to post links directly to individual songs but with the Junkies just about everything is good (IMO of course). Have I violated 2+2 posting guidelines? ~ Rick PS Once again, the latest Winamp will play Flac where iTunes won't. |

the problem with authorized content in such a generally non-authorized field is that it puts an implicit burden on moderators to investigate the authenticity of links.

Re: What is 2+2 Policy on posting band approved links to music files?
My guess is its not allowed. In addition to "no illegal file sharing", there is also a "no torrent" policy. While you're probably not breaking any copyright laws, 2+2 has a stricter policy about copyright than the law requires.
But to get the real answer, crosspost in ATF. The Admins read that forum and its more on topic over there. |

Ed,
I'm on vacation. Mom's doing most of the cooking. And I've come to the sad realization that it took me like 1.5 years and suddenly I'm a much better cook than my mom. |
