Movies that made you cry
I watched ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ this weekend (pure junk btw) and this supposed tear-jerker was not THAT hard to take. Most of the girls around had a few sniffles but I didn’t see any all-out bawling.
To this day, no movie has made me cry as much as ‘The Green Mile’. It was embarrassing, I was bawling like a baby for the last hour of the movie (Pretty much started when you realize that Coffey IS going to die and nothing’s going to be done about it. And that scene where a teary guard straps him on the chair is the most blatant piece of manipulative, tear-jerking propaganda I’ve ever seen but man is it ever effective). So, what are the movies that made you cry the most? |

Re: Movies that made you cry
I didn't "bawl" my eyes out, but I was constantly crying the whole way through Hotel Rwanda when I first saw it. The whole cinema was just consumed in total grief, and I think if you heard someone crying but you weren't yet, it triggered you off. I found it a bit easier to watch at home a few months later.
Off the top of my head I cried watching A Walk To Remember the first time, how f*cking sad. Although it was probably an underlying subconscious thought that I didn't want Mandy Moore to die, because I would take care of her. Million Dollar Baby got me at the end as well. |

Re: Movies that made you cry
I'm a big wuss, so I've had several.
Forrest Gump has two times that get me every single time, first when he asks if little Forrest is normal or . . .?, and then at Jenny's grave. Others include Rocky, Green Mile, LOTR, you name it. |

Last night watching The Year Without a Santa Claus with my wife and kids when Santa and the father sing the song about believing in Santa Claus. Not outright crying, but tearing up.

I think Jenny from Forrest Gump was one of the most despicable characters in any movie. She's second behind Elisabeth Hasselbeck on my list of girls I want to punch in the teeth. The list is only two names long, and both are fictional characters. Oh, btw ... Rudy is the winnar. |

Re: Movies that made you cry
The first and last scenes of Saving Private Ryan get me every time. Also parts of Amistad - Speilberg knows how to get to me, I guess.
Edit: Didn't we have this thread already? |

Re: Movies that made you cry
There are to many movies to count that can make me cry, though I think I've probably only done it a few times. Usually I can spot the emotional turmoil when its just starting to develop, and then distance myself from whatever is making me want to cry. Even when I am alone.

Re: Movies that made you cry
My Life as a Dog -- every time; it's kind of a devastating movie, even though it's hilarious in so many places
Graveyard of the Fireflies - this one's so hard on the heart it's hard to watch often, even though it's animated The Christmas Tree -- dying kids can get me sometimes, so sue me can't recall the rest at the moment, but there were probably a billion of them; I really get into movies |
