10-25nl tptk facing min-checkrasie
10-25 NL 10 handed.
BACKGROUND: The game is a 1000 min - no max 10-25 nl game at the local casino. This game is almost entirely made up of regulars who play every friday. Play is generally very skilled, with a few exceptions, but also quite loose and aggressive. Villian in this hand is on the tight side, about the middle of the scale on the aggressive-passive scale. Has been playing fairly straightforwardly for the 5 or 6 hours that we've been playing before this hand came up, hasn't shown any bluffs, and has generally been sitting back and waiting for the goods. Generally a skilled and observant player My image at the table is that of an extremely tight player, who always has a hand when betting. Up to this point I have not shown down any weak hands. THE HAND: Relevant stacks: I have ~$3000, villian has ~$2000, mp covers I get A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] two away from the button. Villian calls in 2nd position, 1 more call in mp. I raise to 100, blinds fold, villian calls, mp also calls. $335 in the pot. Flop comes K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Checks to me, I bet 300, villain min-checkraises to 600, mp folds. The only other time I saw villian do this, he had a set, and that board also had a flush draw on it..... what is your line? fold right now? call and bluff if the flush hits? can I really still think tptk has any chance of being good here? mincheckrasies piss me off. |

Re: 10-25nl tptk facing min-checkrasie
i like raising a little more PF after a couple of limpers.
As played and given you're reads a fold here seems fine. |

Re: 10-25nl tptk facing min-checkrasie
Villain as described isn't the type of player most likely to be trying to push another tight player off a hand when OOP with a worse hand or draw. The reason the min checkraise is used by some is that with his stack it allows him to get the rest of his stack in on the turn without overbetting the pot. So fold 1 pair hands and call with draws and make him regret his raise amount when you hit a draw on him on the turn when he doesn't price you out of it (assumes your preflop raising range includes hands that could hit a draw here so you are not completely readable).

I call here....play poker on turn especially if a spade drops that doesnt pair the board.

Re: 10-25nl tptk facing min-checkrasie
continuing on the turn has two advantages - 1, there is a chance your hand is good; 2, your image is right for a bluff in the right circumstances.
