This has been posted before. The push is mathematically cEV-. Fold, limp, or miniraise.

Re: AJs UTG with an M of just over 7
Sorry if this has been asked before I looked in the search for anything in the last year w/ AJs +UTG +push in the subject or body and found nothing. Apologies. I can see it being -cEV, but if I limp or minraise, do I fold to *any* reraise?

If I limp or miniraise I react to a raise based on the situation, the raiser, his position, his stack size, and my read. Obviously, if two people go allin, I fold AJs, and being able to get away from it in that kind of situation is one reason for not open pushing. Maybe the exact same problem hasn't been discussed, but similar ones have. You don't push AJs with M of 7 UTG. There is about a 35% chance someone has you dominated, and hands that have you dominated are unlikely to fold. |

Re: AJs UTG with an M of just over 7
At your stack a push seems like a little too many chips to risk for the 300 and any other raise leaves an awkward flop spot. Calling seems weird, would you call w/ any other hand? I fold here.
Push with antes. |

Re: AJs UTG with an M of just over 7
I would limp with QQ-AA here, so I don't see why I shouldn't limp other hands too. You certainly don't mind playing this hand against the blinds and you can decide whether to put the rest of your money in based on subsequent action.

[/ QUOTE ] I haven't posted in months, and only occasionally lurked in that time, but I may have just found a leak in my game. How short-handed does the table need to be at this blind level before this push becomes cev+ ? What if the blinds are 150/300? |

Re: AJs UTG with an M of just over 7
8-handed table and 150/300 are both pushes.
