6-max tough pre-flop decision
$30+3 6-seated tournament. 73 of 152 remaining, average chip stack ~3100, 30-60 blinds.
Hand #32921293-75 at Mon1amA-005 (No Limit tournament Hold'em) Started at 26/Jun/06 01:59:47 UTG is at seat 0 with 1620. MP is at seat 1 with 990. CO is at seat 2 with 2200. Hero is at seat 3 with 1420. SB is at seat 4 with 4150. BB is at seat 5 with 1895. Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pre-flop: 1 fold. MP raises to 120. 1 folds. Hero calls. SB re-raises to 1930. 1 folds. MP goes all-in for 990. Hero should? SB has been aggressive to date but not unreasonable with his showdowns. MP has been loose-weak. I called the original minraise hoping to end up all in on the flop versus MP's c-bet, afraid that MP would fold to the PF raise. But SB's push and the call puts me in a trickier position. |

Yes I agree push the first time makes things easier. Given than I didn't what would you do now?

I called the original minraise hoping to end up all in on the flop versus MP's c-bet, afraid that MP would fold to the PF raise. [/ QUOTE ] That was a mistake. This is UB, right? Hit the "Bet pot" button when it gets to you the first time. Then if someone raises do it again until you're all in. In 6 max tourneys I pretty much never fold QQ or AK preflop. |

Re: 6-max tough pre-flop decision [results]
I called (with my A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]).
SB had K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] MP had K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] The board ended up Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for a chop between me and the SB. But while I felt I was ahead of MP range I wasn't convinced I was ahead of SB's range and the results don't let me know one way or another. |

Here's a guideline:
AK + short stack = ARR IN |

push the first time pf [/ QUOTE ] The guy made it 120. I am not pushing for 1400. That looks too much like AK. People overbet push with AK because they are afraid to play it postflop, and they tip their hand. I would reraise pot initially, and be ready to put the rest in. Flat calling with AK in 6-max is too tight. |
