Turned a Set, tough river decision--1/2 300 max at the Taj
So, I was playing at a 300max table at the Taj for round about 2 hours. I had showed down a number of strong hands, some were cracked and some weren't. The Villain in this hand is fond of making post-flop stabs at the pot and is fairly creative.
I limp in middle position with a pair of deuces, with about 300 behind. Another player limps and the villain on the button makes it 9 to go. One limper called, I called and the CO called, and we took a flop: Kh Qd 7d [4 players $39 in pot] It's checked to me and we check it around. Turn: 2c So I hit the jackpot. First player checks, I bet 20 the CO folds, the Villain calls and the first player folds. River: 8c I bet 40, the Villain makes it 100 straight. Raise, call, or fold? Comments on all streets welcome. Thx. --AD |

This is a ridiculously easy raise. The problem is the size of the raise. If he often does this with air, you may want to just miniraise and entice him to call "just to see what you have".

Does anyone consider that button went on a super slowplay with KK/QQ? I still think I would poosh.

I'd push as well. If he hit a higher set, I'd probably throw up in my mouth, but I wouldn't be mad at my play.

Pushing this is pretty thin.
He either has air, KQ or a better set. I would just call. Edit: Your play in this hand is fine. And I'm predicting that you pushed and got boned by QQ. |

i would just call, what hand would chk the flop and wake up on the river.
edit: if this was commerce then i would push a lot of the time. |

that is a pretty gross flop to slow play a set multi way...
and even if he is slow playing the flop, isn't he raising the turn? I'm all in on the river. |

Re: Turned a Set, tough river decision--1/2 300 max at the Taj
its not a good place to slow play but poster said he is tricky and live players love to slow play, they don't care about anything except what they have...they just think i have a set, no way i can lose.
