[ QUOTE ]
You'd think playing baseball for 10 years, and watching it relatively consistently on TV, as well as always looking at box scores, I would have known this by now. [/ QUOTE ] Umm... Yes, definately. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] uh boston was losing at the time schilling came out of the game? [/ QUOTE ] So if Schilling pitches 5 innings and gives up 1 run and leaves the game down 1-0, and the Sox end up losing 9-8. Schilling gets the loss? THAT'S how they do it? That makes zero sense. [/ QUOTE ] if boston stays behind the whole way, i believe so. [/ QUOTE ] no, it depends if the Red Sox ever came back to tie or not. if they were losing the whole way, Schilling gets the L. if they came back to tie, then whoever THEN gives up the winning runs gets the L. [/ QUOTE ] wait...that's what i said only longer. |

Time for me to starting beating the David Ortiz MVP drum again this year. I haven't been flamed in a while so why not?
But again last night he comes through with a grand slam to break open a close game late and now has 82 RBI in 83 games. Not bad, not bad at all. |

Aren't his numbers far inferior to what they were last year? [/ QUOTE ] not far, no last year he was basically .300/.400/.600, this year he's around .280/.385/.605. this year he is "on pace" for more HR's and RBI's. the team is scoring runs at just about the same pace (surprising?), 5.62 to 5.60 |

For some reason I thought his BA was in the high 260s/low 270s and therefore, his OBP was down more.
