Re: The Warriors (poll)
Here's how old I am: saw it in the theater when it was originally released.
Awesome film. Dopey plot, miserable acting, crappy direction. But simply awesome. "The chicks are packed! The chicks are packed!" |

Re: The Warriors (poll)
If there isn't baseball bat fights I don't want to see the remake. What I liked about the original was the lack of guns. It would be tough to come up with a story of modern day gangs that is realistic and isn't just every other gun film.
Oh, and none of that urban ninja ping-ponging up a stair well, that's too trendy. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] But it is Walsh's solo version. Which for a long time I believe only appeared on the Warriors soundtrack, although I would guess it's made it's way to some compilations by now. [/ QUOTE ] The Eagles put it on their 1979 album "The Long Run." [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure it's not the same version. The one on The Long Run is slower and less rockin. [/ QUOTE ] Truth. The one Joe Walsh did for the movie is much better. [/ QUOTE ] I listened to a 30-second snippet of both of them simultaneously, and they have the exact same tempo. If there is a distinction, it's that the soundtrack version is a little more loose, a little more raw, than the more polished Eagles version. Not only is that more appropriate for the movie, but it's also typical of Joe's solo career versus the Eagles. I didn't know that Walter Hill did Southern Comfort (another great movie), but it makes sense. Both movies tell similar tales of people trying to get home from an unfamiliar and dangerous place. Kind of modern retellings of the Odyssey. |

Re: The Warriors (poll)
Movie soundtrack is MUCH more raw. Very easy to tell the difference. So much so that most people I know who liked the song -- and most everyone did -- didn't like the softer sounding version on the Eagles album.

At the time it came out, and I was a kid, it was simply awesome. It definitely feels slow compared to today's action movies, but it holds up pretty well, still. The Orphans, lol [/ QUOTE ] " See what you get Warriors when you mess with the Orphans!!" Great Line.. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] time to slaughter it with a remake? [/ QUOTE ] already on it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423512/ [/ QUOTE ] I think the remake could actually be pretty good. The original, while enjoyable, was so cartoonish that it was hard to really take seriously. If the remake is filmed in Los Angeles with realistic gangs and situations, I could see it being really good. [/ QUOTE ] I can see this movie blowing harder than Lucy Thai at a USO dance. |
