Au hasard Balthazar [/ QUOTE ] "Mouchette" The end of "Jean de Florette". Someone already mentioned "The Deer Hunter" - one shot. Thomas More seeing his family for the last time in "A Man for All Seasons" always makes me weep. The saddest thing ever is part 5 of a French Television series from the 70's called "The House in the Woods". It's about a French family during WWI and it made the whole theatre sob (including me) in a way I've never seen before or since. |

Seriously, this might sound kind of gay, but I always cry during the movie Stepmom, but luckily I'm a guy so I don't watch it that often.
Also, as for non-movies, I definitely cried during last nights "My Wish" segment on Sportscenter, and I hate the Red Sox. |

Sadly, I'm kinda partial towards The Notebook. Don't ask me why, but I think that it hits too close to home between my fiance and my relationship [/ QUOTE ] How so? I'm guessing you aren't in a retirement home with a fiance with alsheimers. |

[ QUOTE ] Requiem for a Dream [/ QUOTE ] I usually dont like to criticize people's tastes/feelings about things, but this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I feel kinda bad when I watch a $hi ty movie, but I was pissed when I finished this one. Its just so bad, I cant believe it was released. [/ QUOTE ] Considering almost everyone disagrees with you, it should be pretty easy to see how it got released. Anyways, this was the first movie that jumped into my head, everyone's life is [censored] by the end of the movie. |

[ QUOTE ] Ikiru. [/ QUOTE ] Also an excellent one. [/ QUOTE ] Takashi Shimura's performance in this film is heartbreaking. I was going to nominate Wild Strawberries but this is a good choice too. Both have similar themes. Victor Sjostrom's acting is almost as good as Shimura's (though Sjostrom had been retired from acting for quite some time and had become a reclusive drunk) but Kurosawa must get the nod. Bibi Andersson is perfect in Wild Strawberries though. She understood her role so well and plays it beautifully. The name of the lead Japanese actress who plays the young woman from Shimura's office escapes me, but she is just as dope. Here are a few others: A RAISIN IN THE SUN RADIO FLYER |
