[ QUOTE ] and in the halfpipe you are wearing a board or skis which can absorb a lot of the contact. [/ QUOTE ] uhh... no [/ QUOTE ] what I'm saying is that landing with skis/board is far preferable to landing on your feet. |

It's too damn fast and instincts sort of kick in. Maybe it's different here because he must've known he was [censored] before even taking off so he had some more time. I just remember that when I slipped while doing a 25 foot rock jump into a pool of water my only thoughts were the initial "oh [censored]" and hoping that there weren't any rocks/ledges this close to the cliff wall in the water where I was falling. All the twisting and contorting just kind of happened. |

[/ QUOTE ] he knew he was going to bail as soon as he hit the lip on the way up. and soon thereafter he realized he was quickly moving closer and closer to the flat. he was in the air for a long time. he knew he was fuxed. these guys are pros though and theyve bailed hundreds if not thousands of times, and they know what to do instinctively to maximize their chances of survival. but when you're 35-40 feet above your landing spot and you know you're going to hurt yourself bad in about 2 seconds, its impossible not to panic. |

[/ QUOTE ] Makes sense - all things considered, I still give him an A+ for a nice landing. What I see is a guy with a good game plan (keep his feet below him to land on them) - near the end he just loses complete control of his body (landing backwards awkwardly) but still think he did alot to minimize damage. -Al |

Re: Skatebord Wipeout at last night\'s X Games
oh, yeah, I wasn't arguing he wasn't panicking. I was agreeing with you. Panic is pretty much thoughtlessness. Your mind is going "shitshitshit" while your body does what it needs to do.
