Brewers trade Richie Sexson to the Diamondbacks for infielders Junior Spivey, Craig Counsell, Lyle Overbay, catcher Chad Moeller, and pitchers Chris Capuano and Jorge de la Rosa.
Sexson played like 2 weeks before getting injured and then leaving ins free agency for seattle. Brewers build half their team around keeping and shipping off these guys. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander [/ QUOTE ] I think you know neither the definition of "recent" nor "lopsided." Doyle Alexander was 9-0 with a 1.53 ERA down the stretch. [/ QUOTE ] It is recent in the history of baseball. For overall value, the trade was very lopsided. I wasn't going to include this, but if Pedro for Delino was ok, then this one should be. By the way, lighten up you punk. [/ QUOTE ] They each got one WS title out of it. Doesn't seem that lopsided to me. |

So this is how you measure? 3 months of near perfect pitching + 1 playoff appearance (they were eliinated by the Twins) for the Tigers is equal to 19 years of Hall of Fame caliber pitching + 1 world series, 5 pennants, 14 division titles. ok. |

If you believe John Smoltz would have been a Hall of Fame caliber pitcher in Detroit, then yes, it was lopsided.

At the trade deadline in '03, the Red Sox traded Freddy Sanchez and Mike Gonzalez to the Pirates for Jeff Suppan and Brandon Lyon. This deal rarely gets mentioned, but needless to say, is getting worse for them day by day.
