The Sox played below expectation this year regardless of what PETCOA said. [/ QUOTE ] Really? Third-order wins indicate that if anything, the White Sox played above expectation. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/st.../standings.php What are you basing your opinion on? Any facts? |

Re: 2007 AL Central
I'm basing my opinion on everyone else's opinion. I'm defining expectation as how well sports fans (knowledgeable and not so knowledgeable) expect them to do.

Re: 2007 AL Central
Most knowledgeable people thought the White Sox would be absolutely horrendous this year. They seem to be right. You're basing your opinion on the idea that the White Sox got unlucky and/or should have been better, but no credible evidence exists to support that point.

Re: 2007 AL Central
Well, the concensus prediction on this board was: Det, Cle, Min, Chi, KC.
The results were: Cle, Det, Min, Tied Chi & KC. Cle and KC ended up above expectation and Det and Chi ended up below expectation. It is possible to be predicted to be horrendous (your definition was always "sucks = worse than Det and Cle") and to perform below expectation. |

[ QUOTE ] Kyleb, I'll take $50 at even odds that the White Sox are above 4th in the ALC at the All-Star break if you can do transfers on Stars or Epassporte. I'm also curious about your 2+2 White Sox fan betting history. [/ QUOTE ] lost out on some easy money here apparently [/ QUOTE ] No offense, Kyle, but how did you not take this bet? I didn't think they'd be this bad, but I (and I think a lot of others) thought they'd be locked into 4th place for most of the season. |

Re: 2007 AL Central
As JoA said, it wasn't a good bet at even money, given that the Royals are absolutely terrible and it wouldn't be a stretch to see the White Sox beat out any one of the three other teams for third place.
