Re: England out, what now for the FA?
[ QUOTE ]
Mourinho far and away the best choice. Not close imo. [/ QUOTE ] I doubt he will be interested in the job. He seems like a guy who wants constant action and managing at the club level is more in tune with his personality I'd think. At the end of the day international managers don't see near as much of their players and I get the impression Mourinho likes the every day interaction. That said he would be great for England and I'd love to see it happen. Martin O'Neil and Scolari are the other top favorites. I think one of the other two is more likely simply because the demand for Mourinho is ultra high and he could pretty much have his pick of club team in Europe over the next couple of years. |

With all due respect to Beckham (a fantastic player and leader), his international career is clearly finished. SWP is not a worldclass player by any means, so you're back to the drawing board in terms of finding a right-sided player. [/ QUOTE ] Michael Kightly FTW |

Re: England out, what now for the FA?
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, you said that England individually are much more talented. Which is an ultra retarded thing to say. [/ QUOTE ] Players who walk straight into the Croat squad: Gerrard Lampard Joe Cole Terry Ferdinand Rooney Micah Richards Ashley Cole. That said Crotia played much much much better than England last night in every aspect of performance. England may be over rated, but as English fan I am comparing the current side to sides we have had in the past not other international sides. In that respect we have probably the best team in my living memory. The only thing we lack is a true footy genius ala Gazza. However this qualifying campaign is the worst campaign barr perhaps the period when Graham Taylor was in charge, but then again he had Carlton Palmer in the squad. So given that we have much more talent then when Taylor was in charge, the current turn of events is unforgivable. I mean not that long ago, our team had David Batty in it and Phil Nevile and we still did better than we have over the last year or so. That is unforgivable. |

Re: England out, what now for the FA?
Mourinho's never going to take the job, he's said as much on many occasions past.
First thing that needs to be done is to get rid of all the deadwood that's in the squad. The biggest glaring problem is in the forward position. Why people continue to continue with Defoe in the squad when he's clearly not international quality (he can't even get into his own weak club side - sure Berbatov is, for my money, the best striker in the division, but he needs someone to play with him ldo). Rooney and Owen are fine when fit, Crouch is a good change of pace, but ffs bring on the likes of Agbonlahor, or some other young striker (who is a good question as there's a lack in the top flight). Ditch Beckham and other aging players who shouldn't be there. Richards is already better than Neville at right back although we're going to get a Carragher-like situation seeing how he now plays his club football in the centre. As for who takes the job, I really don't care and couldn't care how long it takes as long as we get the right man for the job. |

No way Wenger or Fergie ever go coach a national team. [/ QUOTE ]Depending when he retires, and how Mcleish gets on with the World Cup qualifiers, Fergie will almost certainly take on the Scotland job again. That's again by the way, as he has already held the position. |

Re: England out, what now for the FA?
Mourinho FTW! Capello has stated an interest too. O'Neill is the early bookies favourite at 9/2.
Mourinho 6/1. Scolari 12/1. Capello 12/1. Guus Hiddink 14/1. Alan Shearer 16/1. Stuart Pearce 22/1. Sam Allardyce 25/1. Also, the effect on the economy of England not qualifying is estimated at £2bn, pretty crazy |
