I think this thread is played out, pretty much. But if you post this hand from Villain's perspective with 89 or 43ss, don't you think everyone and their mom will say to bet/fold the river?

You need to raise here everytime. So many times he shows up with smaller flush/trips/straight, and rarely a boat or bigger flush.

i raise if you think he's going to pay you off with trips and fold to a shove

Against most people this is a raise-fold. Against some very good players, it's probably a raise-call or just a call (depending on your image).
From the very little I've seen of spectrum, this is a raise-snapcall, but not because he's a good player. The decision is to either raise to induce a call from trips or to induce a shove from bluffs/very weak made hands. I think I'd go with the latter and raise whatever size makes it look like you're getting thin value and can't stand a shove. |

Is it too early for results?

i am shocked at people saying call.
this is the easiest raise ever. jman covered what to do if he shoves |

TWP, i think the flaw with your analysis is you're assuming a high-level thinking player, and that doesn't at all seem to be the description we're given of our opponent. Like jman said, against a very good, thinking player, i'm fine with calling, but we seem to be missing tons of value if you we don't raise against a player not of the same caliber

fair enough. i dont know the opponent and admitted before that i might be too pessimistic on how often he'll pay off. and if, as jman says, we're snap-calling a push then OBVIOUSLY I agree we should raise.

i think mini-raise, call shove plays pretty well against his range on the river here to be honest
