Seems to me like a bad degen who got lucky.
In a WSOP event this year I was at his table and saw him play a hand pretty atrociously. Two hours into the table and UTG has played like maybe 2 hands and is clearly an ultra nit. He limps, folded to Tuan in MP and he raises, folds to UTG who calls. Flop is Q63r, nit DONKS. (hint, hint.. probably his first ever actual BET at the table..) Tuan raises quickly, nit calls. Turn is like a 9. Nit checks, Tuan bets 6000 quickly. Nit has like 8300. Thinks for a while, calls. River 7, nit checks, Tuan shoves (as if its a significant bet, and not giving the nit like 10 to 1), and nit obviously calls, showing AQ. Tuanīs 77 is good... The very next hand he stacks the other big stack with AA vs. KK and Im left with the answer to my question of "how the [censored] does this guy win tournaments?". But within the next couple hours I was also given the answer to my question of "how does this guy get raped so bad in cash games?" when he proceeded to donk his chips off in elegant lagtard fashion.
That being said, hes a really nice/cool guy, for tournament circuit pro standards.. and Ive heard his cousin Nam is a super nice guy, and from what Ive seen, a much better player.
