Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
I don't know much about fantasy baseball and neither do most of my friends, but we got together and the majority decided to do an auto draft (wtf?). Anyway, it is 7x7: R, H, HR, RBI, SB, K, AVG, W, SV, K, GIDP, ERA, WHIP, K/9
How does this look beside the fact I will lose steals every week, so I am going to try to trade Lopez. Free Annyong 1. (6) Ryan Howard 2. (19) Carlos Lee 3. (30) Joe Mauer 4. (43) Jermaine Dye 5. (54) Carlos Delgado 6. (67) Felipe López 7. (78) Delmon Young 8. (91) Jeff Kent 9. (102) Chris Ray 10. (115) Eric Chávez 11. (126) Brian Fuentes 12. (139) Rich Harden 13. (150) Chien-Ming Wang 14. (163) Pedro Martínez 15. (174) Octavio Dotel 16. (187) Cla Meredith 17. (198) Marcus Giles 18. (211) Orlando Hudson 19. (222) Jim Edmonds 20. (235) Brandon Inge 21. (246) Mark Buehrle |

Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
Wow, no offense but that is a pretty bad draft.
You took Lee, Young, Kent, Pedro, Meredith, Giles way too early. Inge and Edmonds should NOT be drafted. I dont like drafting Wang at all, but with GIDP i guess he has more value, but with K/9 that is shot. I personally dont like taking Delgado there, i would wait and take a Giambi or Prince Fielder. Taking Dye where you did, he needs to pretty much replicate last year for that pick to have serious value. Outside of Howard at 6 and maybe Harden at 139 there are no picks i really like in this draft. Sorry bro. Edit - Didnt see Auto Draft, well in that case, you got f'd. Make sure next time you prerank, and be thankful you didnt get Clemens and Liriano. |

Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
To what extent do people value Clemens? I see him as worthy of a top 200 pick, not exactly the arbatross that some people make him out to be. I project half a season (80-110 IPs) with an ERA in the low 3's, with a solid K rate. Is that overly optimistic?

Just another reason to hate auto drafts. Oh well. |

Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
I was thinking of proposing the following trade - mentioned the situation above. Guy has to deal Ortiz.
I get: Ortiz, Jake Peavy He gets: Cameron, Javier Vazquez, Rivera Good deal for me right? Cameron is on my bench, I also have 4 outfielders ahead of him. Have Saito and can probably pick up Hermanson or someone on waivers if I need saves. |

Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
How do HUGE leagues affect values?
I'm in a league drafting tonight that is pretty standard except that there are 18 teams. Given my lack of feel for fantasy baseball can you help me with which positions have a significant change in value when we go this deep? |

Re: ask me about fantasy baseball v.2007
PS - It's a head-to-head league.
Is there any merit to the idea of pulling down some stud closers and just going for SVs, ERA, and WHIP each week? And then if that failed during the week you could at least stream pitchers to overwhelm the other guy on Ws and Ks. This would allow more picks for offense as well. I don't know, just brainstorming here. |

id probably veto it if was another team. [/ QUOTE ] thank god my league doesn't have veto's. (to combat this, we have a sliding loser penalty. 1st - 3rd finish itm, 4th pay $50, 5th pays $60, 6th $70, etc. this prevents people from making horrible deals on purpose. I suppose we could have a problem with people cheating, but it's never happened and since we're all buddies I doubt it would happen) |
