Re: Shocking headline
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I really don't understnad the American's saying 'saved your asses in WWII' like its something to be proud of. If anything it shows self-involvement since you stood by and watched for years while Nazi Germany conquered the majority of Europe and only got involved when someone bombed one of your ports. [/ QUOTE ] Not really the point, its just used as a response to "America wouldn't even be a country without the French." All of your points apply equally to that statement. [/ QUOTE ] True. I only asked the question cuz I was curious about this particular demographic, whether it was the more sophisticated 'debt squared away' stance or a 'huh? no wai! really!??' stance. |

Re: Shocking headline
What does a French soldiers uniform look like from the front?
No one knows. You only see them from behind when they're running away. |

Re: Shocking headline
[ QUOTE ]
I just have to srsrly ask this one time, and I don't want to get into a political thing because the following is fact: I find most french jokes funny, but do people actually not realize that the US owes it's independence to france? [/ QUOTE ] I have a Master's Degree in History, and taught in in High School for 10 years and still do so now at a University. What CC says is true, but 1) that was the last time they fought, and 2) their participation was due solely to their hatred of CC's own British Isles. Oh, and you know why the Champs Elysses has so many trees? So the Germans can march in the shade. |

Re: Shocking headline
A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle, The French captured an English major. Taking the major to their headquarters, the French general began to question him.
The French general asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?" In his bland English way, the major informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't show and the men they are leading won't panic. And that is why from that day to now, all French Army officers wear brown pants. |
