if the aircraft was considered airworthy and assuming it was cause a multi-millionaire would pay for up-keep and any replacements, then the aircraft had to have an elt (emergency locating transmitter) attached and operational, and assuming he actually made a may-day call he would probably have activated that manually if not it would have gone off when he crashed. that plane can actually glide pretty well and would not have been that hard to land it and walk away from, personal opinion he does not want to found.

The news was saying it has some sort of old school analog locater and not one of the newer ones. They said something about how the Coast Guard, or whoever was doing the searching, didn't use the technology anymore. That might be hindering it. What reasons would he have for wanting to disappear?

all aircraft have an elt but cannot be turned on during flight easily. its a screwy regulation that kills lots of people a year. plus most times the elt does not activate from a crash. since its been so long he is hurt and cannot move around or is gone. with a rare chance he took off walking
