Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
Doyles thinking was that he didnt want Gold having the satisfaction of getting paid off if he did in fact have the nuts.

By the way, has anyone mentioned the possibility that gold knew where doyle was at and made that play exactly for that reason? I know that everyone here despises gold and think he is the worst player so i assume the answer is no. Nonetheless, could this have been an intentional great play from gold? [/ QUOTE ] Whenever I think someone is either a genius or the worst player in the world I tend to assume the former. After giving the person insane respect a whole session the person always end up doing something profoundly stupid and loose all my respect. I think Gold made some decent plays - like laying down AKo against Helmuth. But I think he is a really bad player which shows in his hand against Doyle where he is basicly puts his whole stack at risk with his flush. His hand against DB is pretty funny too. His attempts at trying to manipulate DB into thinking he was on a draw was just hilarious . He plays like a typical fish, being passive with his big hands and draws, plays garbage hands, failing to value bet, bluffing way too much, calling too much, being pretty transparent in his play and overplaying semi-strong hands. He also does something really annoying and fishlike and that is putting his opponent on a specific hand, like a set and or overcards and sticking to that read no matter what. He also manages to be smarmy and self-deprecating at the same time somehow. |

i wouldn't think limp reraising Aces this deep would be advisable. If you make it obvious what you have someone may call just to take you off of it [/ QUOTE ] Depending on the reraise size. |

Re: Doyle - Gold
I don't recall anyone vilifying Gold for this hand (except for his transparent speech). I think that of everyone at the table Gold is the one you want to play a big pot with most and this seems like a good spot given how Gold overvalues hands. For those still defending Doyle's fold have you considered what Barry said? The part about Doyle tilting after he found out what Jamie had. Do people tilt when they think they made the right play? Sounds like Doyle thinks he made a mistake. Again I caveat my criticism of Doyle by saying that I still think it is a marginal situation. Tony |

We're all results oriented, and I'd be steaming a bit after finding out that I could have won a 5 or 6 (or potentially 10) hundred thousand dollar pot. That doesn't mean he'd change his decision if he was in that spot again, or that it was a wrong poker decision. You don't think Benjamine was steaming a bit after seeing the hand where he would have made quad 5s and stacked the billionaire? Its easier for him because he made an absolutely no-brainer fold, but its the exact same situation. |

I'm curious what people's thoughts are on the flush vs. flush hand, i.e. Gold vs. Brunson.

Gold raised because he felt he had the best hand, I don't know why he is being villified for it. Like others have said it's easy when you can see the hole cards but seriously who there wouldn't think a 9-high flush would be good after Doyle made such a weak bet [/ QUOTE ] Overbetting the pot is weak? |

You guys are all retards that barely have a high school education. I'm surprised you can actually get through reading a multi-paragraph post let alone actually understanding the meaning of it. [/ QUOTE ] ur first post was dumb but this one is pretty spot on |
