The people who put the blame on Brandi at the beginning of the thread for what she told us Tom did to her are the same type of idiots who are trying to put the blame on Mark or say he somehow deserved it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sponger,

That's exactly right. The same people who realized at the outset that Brandi was full of BS and just another in a long line of lying hustlers, are also the ones who realized that newhiz brought a lot of this stuff on himself. These "same people" are not suckers.

But let's flip this around. The same people who bought Brandi's con are the same ones who couldn't see that newhiz had been very foolish not just with parts of his roll, but in his judgement. Even if newhiz is a great guy and often a great player. Those "same people" ARE suckers.

And note again, that whether newhiz bought Brandi's con, or was just after some snatch, he's still a sucker there, and not being one most of the time in poker doesn't change that.

So Sponger, you are a sucker. A very funny sucker, but a sucker nonetheless. And why? Because you along with lots of other suckers here think that a player who is a very good player in one form of poker, and has made an ass load of money playing that form, can't be a sucker in another form, or in many areas of life.

Also everyone should note entertainme's excellent analysis of this whole situation. It spotlights why hustlers/cons are often so successful. They usually don't start with a boldface lie, but with a small part of the truth. Then they twist it to get sympathy or money.

And similarly, people allow themselves to be deluded into making certain people their heros, often demonstrating short term results oriented thinking, by taking a small part of the truth, i.e. a player being very good and making a lot of money in one thing, and then thinking he thus can't be a fool in others things. The only difference here, is those people con themselves about other people they admire when their hero isn't even touting himself.

income is taxable, even illegal income.

[/ QUOTE ]

What does this mean? They expect drug dealers to pay taxes?

[/ QUOTE ]yes. seriously. I know that sounds stupid, and obviously you wouldn't put "drug dealer" on your tax forms, but if you have TRACEABLE income(which most drug dealers don't becaues they don't deposit it into a bank) then you have to claim it at tax time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do they try to collect back taxes after convicting people of illegal activity, or do seizures and the like make up for that?

[/ QUOTE ]I would doubt it since its usually not traceable(if they catch you selling drugs they know that you did it but they can't prove how much money you made off of it over any length of time), but I don't know enough to say for sure. Furthermore(and again this is just speculation on my part) I think that the IRS and the branch of criminal justice that deals with drugs are two separate departments completely.

If I was in Mark's shoes when I was 21, I'll bet I would have messed my [censored] up a lot worse.

yeah.. but would you have hung out with a crazy psycho girl if you weren't at least hitting it? i know a lot of crazy psycho girls and they are almost always a lot of fun if you don't get attached to them.

this is the most surprising thing about this entire story. he let her blow 30k. so what. she cut herself and wrote stuff on the wall. it happens. he played bad and blew a bunch of money and cried about it. no big deal. he wasn't even hitting it the whole time.. are you f'ing kidding me!?!?!

Even when men have the ability to identify the bitch gene, they still think they are "what she needs". They can play with fire and not get burned. They'll be able to walk away before things get out of hand.

What sometimes happens, however, is that the actual drug dealing can't be connected to an individual, while at the same time a documented flow of income that has gone untaxed can be. As a result, they will go after them for the tax violations, which are legitimate crimes and more easily proven, in lieu of pursuing a drug case that they won't be able to win.

That's what Drew meant with the Capone remark. They couldn't get Capone on bootlegging or other charges, so they got him on tax evasion.
