Re: Official September Thread: General Discussion, whining .. etc

Cardrunners question, Thinking of signing up. Should I? And if so, should I get a gold membership or just go for silver and dl videos that people say are good. What number of videos on the site is really good, and what are just random meh ones? [/ QUOTE ] if you are already good at poker, there are very few videos worth watching imo. |

And then because of the "very large wager" you just lost, you can't retire until your 40! Bad beat. |

AceCR9, You're just an idiot. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, he's not. The accepted rule is between 4-5% of your nest egg could be withdrawn every year. On $2million you could withdraw an inflation adjusted $100k per year and have a > 90% chance of never running out of money no matter how long you lived. |

Re: Official September Thread: General Discussion, whining .. etc
I think people on this board are vastly overestimating how much money 2mm is.
Do you plan on having a wife and kids at any point? You sure as hell are not supporting a family on 100k/yr even if you don't have any higher aspirations (that are seemingly absurd to some of you). I wonder what types of backgrounds people on here come from? I don't mean it any negative or condescending way, I just think that if people were more aware of how quickly 2mm is spent that they might be more hesitant in their proclamations of retiring by 30 and sitting on their 2mm 'nest egg.' |

[/ QUOTE ] It's definitely more of a personal thing. A lot of the things I enjoy the most cost little or no money. I dont think 100k/year is a barebones lifestyle by any means (depending upon area of the country). If I "retired" I would probably still play poker too. I have had my fair share of [censored], 40/hour week, desk drone jobs that just ate my soul. I'd be very happy if I didnt have to go through that kind of stuff any more in my life. |
