From one thread you've made quite a few assumptions about me. I will read your post again to see if there is anything you mentioned which I can improve on.

Re: How do you deal with the variance at low limits?
[ QUOTE ]
Well over the past two days I've gone from being up 7 buy ins to up 2 then from being up 6 to down 3 and for some reason they seem to happen within minutes of each other. They were also incredibly bad beats, things I'm not used to. It's possible that it's an anamoly, but I've only been playing two days, so for me it's the norm. So to answer your question: Yes I guess the problem is that I get my money in with the best hand and then lose, it's very frustrating. [/ QUOTE ] yeah you're prob just running bad (if you're playing good, i wont pretend to have a clue either way). fwiw i have 6-10 BI swings in both directions in a single session pretty regularly, but that wont be the case for a good player playing low stakes |

[/ QUOTE ] i play a wide range of limits (anything from 2/4 to 10/20) depending on what the tables look like, but i wont even take a shot at a limit i dont have at least 30BIs for, and i keep >75 for the levels i play most. i dont think that kind of br management is necessary at low stakes though. also im rather aggressive which can lead to stretches where i lose lots of stacks really fast |

Re: How do you deal with the variance at low limits?
I've read all the replies here rather fast but I really think they are right and the guys here just want to help you.
Seriously, the only way to deal with these swings is (and I know that sounds stupid): keep (or start) playing good, solid poker. Play more hands, much more hands and don't draw conlusions too early. Do your homework, that means, look at the hands you played during a session to see if and if yes which mistakes you made. Variance is a thing that has always and will always occurr in poker, and if you manage to put your money in with the best hand by far the most of the times then you will have success in the long run. Until then keep cool, stay clear and concentrate on making good decisions. If some idiot shows up with some crap to beat you shake your head shortly and repeat: "Keep playing like that and I'll get your money anyway, keep playing like that and I'll get your money anyway..." Good luck. |

WEll thanks for the advice. I'm just used to good players, and this is not good play, and when it beats me I get mad.

Re: How do you deal with the variance at low limits?
I read the book "The Poker Mindset" and now variance doesn't even rattle me in the least as its just a natural part of the game. (But it still sucks)
