Re: Rodney Harrison to be suspended for HGH violation
[ QUOTE ]
Since most of sports media has a Boston/Patriots love affair, I'm sure that contributes to the lack of coverage. [/ QUOTE ] Not only is it not being covered by SI, they pretty much had to go out of the way to not run the AP story on it. It's not like it's an ESPN exclusive. |

Since most of sports media has a Boston/Patriots love affair, I'm sure that contributes to the lack of coverage. [/ QUOTE ] I think it has more to do with him not having 761 homeruns. When Shawne Merriman tested positive, ESPN actually did this piece where Roger Goodall wanted to assure everyone that Merriman tested clean 19 out of 20 times in an effort to distance his name being associated with a new policy that disallows players from playing in the Pro Bowl when they test positive for steroids. They explained he only test positive once. As if once is not enough. |

Re: Rodney Harrison to be suspended for HGH violation
An example of the SI steroid hypocrisy, from SI's Peter King:
King: "I've decided not to mention Barry Bonds' name in this column. Just my own little silent protest, because every fiber in me tells me he cheated to get the most hallowed record in sports." Two days later, in response to a reader email: From Aaron of Toronto: "Will your boycott of an alleged steroid cheat extend to confirmed cheats such as Shawne Merriman?'' King: "No. Merriman was tested, caught, and suspended. Barry Bonds was not tested, not caught, not suspended ... for years. Somebody let Peter King know Bonds has been tested for the past 4 years, and hasn't been suspended because he hasn't failed a test. And this gem on the new rule that doesn't allow players to play in the Pro Bowl if they are suspended for steroids: From Bruce White of Indianapolis: "Should Shawne Merriman be eliminated from the Pro Bowl due to his positive steroids test? King: "If he's eligible for 12 games and plays at a very high level in those games, he should be able to play in the Pro Bowl. He paid his penalty according to the collectively bargained rules of the game. Somebody tell Peter King that Barry Bonds has never violated the collectively bargained rules of his game. |

I also don't think Peter King care about this guy's problem with substance abuse.

Re: Rodney Harrison to be suspended for HGH violation
The only reason people care about baseball roids is because fans care too much about stats, records considered divine, whatever. Otherwise would not be an issue. It's possible PED's and NFL will blow up into a huge issue at some point but think the league needs to do something about issue. I think certain things should be allowed, stamp of approval if you will. You can't outlaw everything. But when players go outside of that you need to slam them hard, half year first offense and double each new one.
I'll watch either way but players are so [censored] large these days it's not in the interest of the game to let them all kill one another. Can't go back to 30 years ago either. Some kind of compromise is necessary. |

Re: Rodney Harrison to be suspended for HGH violation
At least he manned up to it and accepted his punishment.
His career is probably over after this season anyway. |

At least he manned up to it and accepted his punishment. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, manned up? More like he either accepts it or gets [censored] even harder. Do you say "at least he manned up to it" whenever someone pleads guilty in court? |
