[ QUOTE ] NFC East (all potential playoff teams that beat up on one another) AFC North (3 potential playoff teams and the Browns are better than given credit for/ they usually lose close games) AFC East (I think the Dolphins and Jets have potential/ the Patriots are my pick this year) AFC South (I just bumped this division above AFC West considering Jacksonville/ Indy/ and up and coming Titans) AFC West (Oakland has to be the worst team in the NFL, Chiefs and Broncos are on their way down) NFC South (Saints and Panthers the only playoff contenders here) NFC North (Chicago alone beats out the NFC West) NFC West (Seattle and maybe St. Louis if healthy; I don't believe in the S.F. hype, even though I like Smith and Gore- maybe next year, if they keep spending) [/ QUOTE ] Oakland is not going to be close to the worst team in the league this year, and might finish above .500. [/ QUOTE ] You should bet the farm then, I think the O/U for Oakland is 5 this year in Vegas. |

After 4 games here are the Division rankings, according to me, but based on Dr. Z's SI power rankings of individual teams:
1. AFC South 2. AFC North 3. NFC East 4. NFC North 5. AFC West 6. NFC West 7. AFC East 8. NFC South Houston, I believe will end up below .500. The rest of AFC S looks solid, though, so maybe this is the best division in football. AFC N teams are inconsistent, some underachieving, some overachieving. Dallas/ SB contender. Washington, Philly, NYG all look above avg. NFC N is topsy turvy. Oakland is maybe not the worst team in the NFL anymore. All of these AFC W teams just seem avg. Arizona/ Seattle= good for now St. Louis/ S.F.= bad for now Only New England looks good so far in the AFC E Only Tampa Bay in the NFC S, have to think Carolina steps up I think I think NFC E is the best division in football regardless of the above. I think I don't believe in Houston. I think Pittsburgh is one of the top teams, regardless of the loss to Arizona (and I'm a Browns fan). Cinci will bungle the season away. NFC N will even out. S.F. will win 4 games. N.O. 6. Miami 8. S.D. 10. Dallas 12. Indy 14. N.E. 15 or possibly 16. |

Miami's gonna win 8 games huh? Well they play the Pats twice, so there's two they'll lose most of the time. So you think they'll finish 8-2 in the remaining games huh?

[/ QUOTE ] In the past 3 years, the Pats/Dolphins have split each season series. This is despite the Pats being 33-9 and the Dolphins being 16-26 against everyone else during that stretch. Last year the Dolphins lost 4 of their last 5 games, while the Patriots won 6 of their last 7. The one flaw in both of those stats: The Dolphins beating the Pats 21-0 in week 14. |

Oh and the AFC South is better than the NFC East by far imo:
Indy > Dallas Tennesee > Washington Jacksonville > NYG Houston > Philly |

[/ QUOTE ] What I'm trying to argue more than Miami will finish 8-4, is that they're a better team than their 0-4 record shows. I can't explain why they lost so badly to the Raiders. Two of their other losses (Redskins/ Jets) were close/ Dallas is understandable. I think Miami is better than the following teams they will play vs: Texans, Browns, Giants, Bills x2, Jets, Bengals Maybe they end up going 6-10, I don't know, just something I felt could happen and typed in. It's just to say that I'm very surprised by some of the good teams with losing records so far, i.e. Chicago, San Diego, Carolina, New Orleans. None of these teams, imo, are in the bottom 10 of NFL teams, regardless of current record. I think any team in the NFL is capable of beating the Patriots, even though the Pats look like one of the best teams ever right now. That's just variance/ the nature of this league. Philly's week 3 win (56-21) vs. Detroit has to show that they have the talent to turn things around this season. I think Houston flops from here on out. |

I liked Miami more than most before the season, but I don't see how you can defend their performance thus far. The Jets game was not really that close when you get away from the box score. Two additional solid beatings (especially at home in September when they're usually at their best) is a horrible sign even if one of them was vs. Dallas. I thought their biggest asset would be their run defense and then Thomas freaking Jones go for 110yds on them? The Jets couldn't even run the ball on the Bills practice squad defense.
