Re: 10/20 Monster Draw
I think shoving > betting > checking. What hand does he see you raise on the flop there that checks behind on the turn? If you hit are you even getting paid off?

You really need a read on someone that they'll fold JJ/QQ before firing is preferable to checking. [/ QUOTE ] i agree with this 100%, your hand is pretty well disguised and hes probably almost always paying off w/ AA-QQ, and possibly worse. |

[/ QUOTE ] i disagree, i would think someone's range who raises a flop, gets called and checks behind on a turn when all the draws miss has a combo draw a lot of the time. he'll probably just bet fold the river if you hit and check call if you would've missed. |

Re: 10/20 Monster Draw
I think shoving is the best option here, and 2nd best option is checking.
If we bet and he calls with an overpair, we´re slightly behind, which means if we miss river we have put in 50BB and are going to muck our cards. Even if we hit, the board is going to look very scary so it´s not 100% sure he´s going to pay off. If we shove, we can get an overpair and maybe even 2 pair to fold, and if called we have a lot of outs. But, I´d rather take the pot down here. If he has a set the money was going in anyway obv, therefore it would suck to get checkraised AI on turn, and therefore checking would be the 2nd best option IMO. |

Re: 10/20 Monster Draw
I'm a competent low stakes player rather than a high stakes player (so far), but in a lower game, checking behind is certainly better than betting.
He probably won't fold an overpair (the comment about a read on whether he'll fold QQ/JJ is spot on) so why inflate the pot when you're behind. If you hit on the river then there's a good chance you can get some value, since you have position, which you're trading against the fact that he might hit a 4-outer if he hits non-flushing overcards against you (also some extra implied odds here if he hits a flushing overcard). If he bets the river and you haven't improved, you can probably fold and save yourself a bundle. Of course there's a risk you might get bluffed off the best hand, but I don't think he calls the flop with much worse than a pair of 7s. |

Re: 10/20 Monster Draw
1. sweet hand/post
2. this seems pretty easy-play it however you would play your made hands, so basically what ship ship said this [censored] about checking is rediculous unless you know why you are doing it (which poker monkey and some others dont...) personally i dont mind it that much bc we have some showdown value against AK and missed spades etc, without the pair im betting this like i would a set...but it still isnt my line of choice bc i dont think you check any strong hands on this turn so a check allows villain to play optimally on the river against us which is lame--so a turn bet maximizes value here imo |
