Internet on planes

I was on a LAX-London Lufthansa flight in Sep and played for about 5 hours of and on. Signal varied from awesome to gnarly. It was ok for email and surfing buy I wouldn't use it for serious playing. Single table only; multi-tabling was way too laggy.

this seems like a cool idea but i feel like another issue would be how to power ur laptop during flight. i have a dell xps that has a 130w power cord which might not even work on a plane. i was checking AA/etc's info on this and it looks like so far it's only up to 70w or so.

You can buy these power adaptor things for planes called iGo's at Brookstone type places. They're kind of expensive (~$100) but worth it if you fly alot.

I haven't read much about it, but I would love for adoption of this to become widespread. anybody traveling for business could buy it and expense it, then commence gamboooling.

the internet is a series of tubes and would obviously weigh down the planes too much

Cell phone equipment doesn't interfere with planes. GSM won't interfere with anything. All cell phones won't interfere with anything that flies commercially today though some older analog phones can screw with old (like really old), smaller plane equipment.

I believe the cellphone thing isn't that they think its likely to cause problems, but more that they don't want to test every new feature/phone that comes out for potential complications
