Re: Do you 4-bet AA or KK?
Given how aggro 5/10+ games usually are and I'm getting 3-bet with fairly wide ranges, I'll often 4-bet (-shove) with a wider range as well, so in my case 4-betting doesn't reveal that much about my hand. If 4-betting with 89s isn't part of your repertoire, just call. I don't see much difference between AA and KK either.

Re: Do you 4-bet AA or KK?
some players 4bet more then they call 3bets while others almost always call 3bets and rarely 4bet. Depends on what your style is as both lines are fine. I'd be much more inclined to 4bet
-Right image views me as a maniac -seen me 4bet before with out having goods -his 3bet was not v big -your deep |

Re: Do you 4-bet AA or KK?
very image dependent. if you feel that the villain is 3-betting light i usually 4-bet. i think it is a misconception that smooth calling is better if villain is raising light. I think the only time you want to smooth call the 3-bet is if the villain has a very tight range like AK, KK, QQ, and JJ. even then 4-betting isn't bad as often you will get the money in. I will also be 4-betting opponents that are 3-betting light with much worse than AA.

JW, if you 4bet with air, lets says 86s, assuming 2/4 NL $400 eff stacks, you 4bet to $160. He shoves all in as a 5bet. You fold then right...this makes it hard for anyone to give respect to your 4bets in the future. [/ QUOTE ] This is a call. |

Re: Do you 4-bet AA or KK?
This post was inspired by an exchange I had with jkkkk about a month ago. Jkkkk posed the following situation:
[ QUOTE ] 2/4nl, 400 stacks UTG+1 (29/9, Hero and Villain have about 250 hands on each other, Hero's image should be floating around 18/16 mark) opens for 13, folds round to Hero in the BB who pops to 41 w/ QQ, he calls. flop (84): 346r Hero leads for 60, Villain goes ai, Hero... [/ QUOTE ] jkkkk then asked how shallow your stack would have to be to make this call. In analyzing, it partly turned on how likely it was that villain held KK or AA. I wrote: [ QUOTE ] If he had either KK or AA, wouldn't he re-raise preflop a large portion of the time? At least 50% of the time? If this assumption holds true, we have to eliminate half of the KK and AA combinations. [/ QUOTE ] jkkkk then responded: [ QUOTE ] Players at this level generally dont 4-bet pf with AA-KK because they like to get paid, if the stacks were a little deeper, they would be 4-betting AA/KK a significant % of the time... I'd say the majority of opponents are flat calling a 3-bet >80% of the time with stacks <400. Interesting point though, maybe someone should start another thread/poll, I personally think you'll be letting Villain get away from a lesser hand when you 4-bet here, if he has any sense, that is. [/ QUOTE ] Now, this poll is a bit of a different situation, but I tried to make this poll a little more generic because situations come up frequently wherein my post-flop play turns on how likely it is that my opponent holds AA or KK. If my opponent just smooth called a 3-bet, my hunch was that you could reduce the liklihood of my opponent holding AA or KK by about 50%. Based upon the results of this poll it looks like that general assumption was not too far off. Here is jkkkk's thread if you want to see more of the exchange jkkkk and I had. I am also wondering, for those who would not 4-bet AA and KK, in what situations do you 4-bet? Never? |

Just out of curiosity, if you do 4bet here, what is it going to be to, 40-50bb?
