Re: Second life lottery/casino
I read an article about 2nd life at the end of summer in a business mag, maybe Business 2.0. I downloaded it to check it out. It ran terribly on my machine most of the time, unless I had just restarted. I also had the idea to run a casino. I decided that it would not be worth my time.
I haven't heard of 2nd life from anywhere other than this one magazine article. I don't think it is really catching on, and I doubt it will be profitable for long, certainly not long enough to jsutify all the startup time. |

[/ QUOTE ] 2nd life is just something popular to write news articles about. The game itself is horrible. Unless they write a game like this that is advanced as wow or eq2, it will never be mainstream. If you are serious about making money off of a MMORPG, play EQ2 or WOW and sell the game money for real money. Although you can't do this through the game, it is fairly easy to do either by auctioning it off yourself or by selling to a 3rd party that buy/sells for a living. Although it is technically against the terms & conditions on games like wow or eq2 to sell for real money, they won't actually ban you unless you are cheating/hacking/exploiting. If you earn your money and play the game legitimately they will turn the other eye. |

Re: Second life lottery/casino
Well one of you guys should figure out a way to get a virtual money card room started. Making it truly legal for US residents to play. The game would just be a front of course.
How do these online economies work? Where does the money come from? Do the game creators just stock the economy with cash, but not quite enough to be plenty for everyone creating a black market on ebay for the dollars? |

Re: Second life lottery/casino
In second life, you get a very small amount when you start playing, and you can buy more for US$. I wouldn't be surprised to see incredible hyperinflation in the game if it ever got popular, because so many people playing would result in an insane amount of money given away by the game.

Re: Second life lottery/casino
As long as they give away less money than the average game player desires, the game's money should have some value.
If they charge a monthly fee for gameplay, they could even afford to take a little money out of the game each month to avoid inflation. |

But trading 10,000,000 second life dollars for $1 US won't make a lot of people eager to open a business. |
