While he may have some positive libertarian aspects due to his voting record. Would you not agree that bringing someone back who left with a scandal like his probably would not be the best PR move after getting dominated in an election?

Yeah I thought he was pretty screwed over by the republican party 4 or whatever years ago. There was a political cartoon in the oregonian with him laying facedown with knives in his back saying 'et tu everyone' which i thought was pretty spot on. Regardless of his politics (which i strongly dislike) it was a classless display by BushCO.

Hey Mempho, just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your posts in this thread. I am from the camp of "WTF are the Republicans thinking" and appreciate hearing a different, rationale viewpoint about Senator Lott's resurrection.

It's one thing to be nice. It's another to say that had we elected a racist, we woulnd't have had "trouble."

Lott's comment about Thurmond should be viewed within the context of his other statements and activities. Lott is a racist. Putting him back in a position of responsibility is disgraceful for the Republicans, as it would have been for the Democrats to put Jack "I'm not interested in a bribe--yet" Murtha.
