Re: Professor Julius Kelp\'s Endless Summer Chemistry Test
1) Does film best tell the truth (Godard) or tell lies (De Palma) at 24 frames per second?
Too deep for a tiny brain like me, but I think films tell us what the director wants us to see, so I'm going with lies. 2) Ideal pairing of actors/actresses to play on-screen siblings John Cusack and Tina Fey 3) Favorite special effects moment Gollum CGI in LOTR. 4) Matt Damon or George Clooney? George Clooney has a more mature coolness, reminds me of Dean Martin. 5) What is the movie you’ve encouraged more people to see than any other? 24 Hour Party People. I thought it was excellent, and will spend an hour convincing anyone who will listen the same thing. 6) Favorite film of 1934 N/A 7) Your favorite movie theater* The Wyandotte Theater in, interestingly enough, Wyandotte, MI. It's torn down now, but went there all the time as a youngster. 8) Jean Arthur or Irene Dunne? N/A 9) Favorite film made for children Aladdin. 10) Favorite Martin Scorsese Movie Color of Money 11) Favorite film about children Rocket Gibraltar 12) Favorite film of 1954 Had to look it up..."The Caine Mutiny" 13) Favorite screenplay written by a writer more famous for literature than screenplays A Christmas Story 14) Walter Matthau or Jack Lemmon? Gotta go with Matthau simply because of "Bad News Bears". 15) Favorite character name Dom DeLuise as "Dom Bell" in Silent Movie 17) Favorite film of 1974 Blazing Saddles 18) Joan Severance or Shannon Tweed? I'll take the brunette over the blonde - Joan Severance. 19) jackass: the movie-- yes or no? No. 20) Favorite John Cassavetes Movie I've only seen Gloria, so I can't make an intelligent choice. What the hell, that's never stopped me before..."Gloria"! 21) First R-rated movie you ever saw Animal House. 22) Favorite X-rated film (remember that, while your answer may well be a famous or not-so-famous hard-core film, the "X" rating was once also a legitimate rating that did not necessarily connote pornography) I'd forgotten that Midnight Cowboy was rated X, and I can't really think of another non-porn X movie, so I'll go with "Legend 4". 23) Best film of 1994 Pulp Fiction. 24) Describe a moment in a movie that made you weep When Old Yeller got shot is probably cliche because of the infamous "Stripes" scene, but I remember seriously crying the first time I saw it. Apart from that, the last seconds of the USA beating USSR in "Miracle". 25) Ewan McGregor or Ewan Bremner? Trainspotting is one of my favorite flicks, so I'm calling it a draw, although I like some of the career decisions McGregor has made, "Velvet Goldmine", "A Life Less Ordinary" and "Young Adam" stand out. Hmmm..I guess my draw vote is skewed towards McGregor. 26) One of your favorite line readings (not necessarily one of your favorite lines) from this or any year Christopher Walken's speech when giving the watch to a young Butch in "Pulp Fiction" springs immediately to mind. 27) What, if any, element in a film, upon your hearing of its inclusion beforehand, would most likely prejudice you against seeing that film or keeping an open mind about it? Action, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, "feel good", and dance elements will keep me away from a movie. 28) Favorite Terry Gilliam Movie 12 Monkeys 29) Jean Smart or Annie Potts? Annie Potts 30) Is it possible to know with any certainty if you could like or love someone based on their taste in movies? If so, what film might be a potential relationship deal-breaker for you, or the one that might just seal that deal? My wife hates most the movies I like and vice versa, so I'd have to say movies really has no bearing on how I think of other people. |
