I don't know about you guys, but today's game makes me feel pretty good about our chances in the postseason.

Pray tell, whose chances are significantly better?

[/ QUOTE ]
I just don't think the Red Sox would win a series vs any of the other 3 AL playoff teams right now.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah thats rational thinking.

[/ QUOTE ]

so you like the way they're playing right now then?

[/ QUOTE ]

yes. they just won 10-1 after all, clearly they are the best team in baseball history.

people put way too much weight into one game (or 3, or 7). the red sox have proven over a decent sized sample that they are the best team in MLB. as currently constructed PERHAPS the NYY can say otherwise.

as for the playoffs, they have arguably the best starter going in and arguably the best closer going in. they will have the second best offense in the AL going in AND most likely HFA. they will be favorites in probably any series they play in save for a toss up with NY.

anything can happen in the playoffs....however saying you dont see the red sox beating any of the three AL teams is reactionary silliness.

I would like to take a moment and thank Eric Hinske for earning his 5.725 million dollars this season. That is more money than Youk, Paps, Lester, and Pedroia make combined.

It was well worth it. Bravo, sir. Bravo.

And, as always, Posada is a little bitch.

You're right, Posada is a little bitch for taking a head-on hit from a bigger guy, holding onto the ball, and staying in the game. What a bitch.

yeah, srsly. If I can't be happy during a season in which the Red Sox have been the best team in baseball wire-to-wire, then when can I be happy?

Oh yeah, never cuz I'm a bitter Red Sox fan...

At the beginning of the season if you can choose between Posada or Varitek who do you take?

Seriously, I want NYY to lose, but I cannot really think of any reason as a BOS fan to dislike Posada.

Obviously Ellsbury is smaller than Hinske, but, despite what McCarver said during the game, Posada was pretty much willing to take another hit. Ellsbury just found a way to avoid having to go in hard.

Is it even worth taking the hit the first time for one run? I would think that the possible risk of injuries (for either person, but particularly the catcher) far outweigh holding a run (or in the case of the runner, scoring the run).

Of course, if you are Jason Kendall, you better block the plate . But Piazza in his prime, don't take the hit. Be a little bitch and help your team win as many games as possible instead of 'today's game'.

I don't know a single Sox fan who 1) wouldn't always take Tek over Posada and 2) doesn't think that Posada is a little bitch.

There's more to being the catcher than swinging the bat, and there's a reason Varitek was given the C on his chest. Namely, unmistakably, for NOT being a little bitch.

just making a note that DREW came up with a huge hit for when people are complaining in 3 days that he hasn't done anything all year

I yelled at a guy about 4 rows back about this yesterday that screamed out in his last AB to him.

Tonights game should be interesting; it may be Clemens last game ever. Going to have to set up two TVs tonight!
