Re: Jman\'s High Stakes Poker Trip Report (long)
u dont think that if a few (4 or 5) of the top internet guys got together and agreed to play for some nosebleed stakes...say 500-1k nlhe, the live players would turn that down? invite dn, helmuth, bg, ivey, pa.(i know some of those play online but it wouldnt be a real competition of live/online, just to play) we would probably get to see some actual good live poker, not just sammy and eli being aggtards

Dude you were bad for TV. I was watching OP and the other harvard professor guy and was thinking who are the noobs playing scared money. OP looked like he was scared shitless, i mean c'mon man its a once in a lifetime event that most of us would love to have a shot at. Sit with 200K you dont give a crap about, mix it up and have a good time. What are you doing trying to make a million ga zillion dollars in one sitting.
P.S. buy some new threads homie you were on national TV for gods sake. You looked like you just got out of bed. |

Re: Jman\'s High Stakes Poker Trip Report (long)
Jman should have told everyone it was his first time playing live and pretended he was befuddled by every thing. He should have asked incrediably novice level questions, and played his first hand very poorly, starting with the worlds biggest string bet would have been awesome, going back and forth to his stack until someone called him on it would have been great. He would be "clueless Internet guy", a butt of jokes, and a lock for the next session as no one would notice how tight he was playing. He also would have got mad action on his set of jacks, and ultimately stacked the entire table at his half million dollar session.

Re: Jman\'s High Stakes Poker Trip Report (long)
[ QUOTE ]
This is getting ridiculous. He sat down in a game full of people playing INCREDIBLY TERRIBLE--, and played somewhat tightly for a full-ring game (15% is probably about optimal in a normal, aggro game). This game was off-the-charts loose--people cold-calling large pf raises from tight players with J8o, K7o, etc., and he had just sat down against a table full of people he didn't know. On top of that, he had a maximum of two hours to play. People who think he should've been in there mixing it up are clueless at best. [/ QUOTE ] An ultra-loose, high-stakes game with limited availability, which will affect many people's perceptions of your play for a significant length of time and you really think the way to maximize EV is to buy short and fold 90% of your hands pre-flop? Really? He claims he showed up to show people what real poker is, but all he showed was that he's a NIT. He might be your friend or whatever, but defending him is stupid. He [censored] up. Admit it and move on. Maybe next time somebody gets on HSP they'll show up with the cash and the inclination to actually play poker. |
